STARPOST
Privacy Policy · Last updated: June 9, 2026
Starpost ("we", "the app") lets you exchange small drawings and photos ("transmissions") with a small crew of friends. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We do not sell your data and we do not run ads or third‑party trackers.
1. Information we collect
- Profile you provide — a display name (callsign), a chosen planet and cockpit theme, and an optional profile photo (your face, placed inside a spacesuit helmet).
- Content you create — drawings and optional photos you send as transmissions, and reactions you add.
- Crew code — the code that connects you to your crew.
- Anonymous identifier — we sign you in anonymously (Firebase Anonymous Auth). There is no email, password, or account sign‑up. We do not know your real identity.
- Push token — if you enable notifications, a device push token so we can alert you to new transmissions.
- Approximate technical data — device language/region (to localize the app) and basic diagnostic data needed to run the app.
2. How we use it
- Deliver your transmissions, avatar, and presence to the friends in your crew.
- Send you notifications about new transmissions (only if you turn them on).
- Keep the service safe (handling reports and blocks).
3. Who can see your content
Your transmissions, name, and avatar are visible only to members of your crew — i.e. people who entered the same crew code. We do not make your content public or share it with advertisers.
4. Storage & retention
- Data is stored on Google Firebase (Realtime Database & Cloud Storage).
- Transmissions and their photos auto‑delete after 24 hours.
- Your profile (name, planet, avatar) is kept until you change or delete it, or delete your data in the app.
5. Your choices & rights
- Notifications — turn push on/off any time in Settings.
- Block & report — block any crew member or report inappropriate content from the transmission screen.
- Delete your data / account — Settings → Account → "Delete account & data" permanently removes your profile, avatar, transmissions and member record from your crew. You can also email us to request deletion.
6. Children
Starpost is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
7. Third‑party services
We use Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage) and the Expo push notification service to operate the app. Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies.
8. Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected here with a new date.
